Can I keep my malachite in water or salt?

Malachite is a highly porous stone that should not be exposed to water, and even less to salt water. Prolonged contact can damage its surface and release copper, which can be toxic if handled frequently. To purify it, use fumigation, bran or contact with selenite.

Why does my malachite look different from the photos?

Each malachite has a unique banded or spiral pattern, with variations in green from light to dark. Your stone may have natural differences from the images, making it a unique specimen.

How can I improve the appearance of my malachite?
