Can I store my selenite in water or salt?

Selenite is a very soft, water-soluble stone. Prolonged contact can dissolve it, causing it to lose its pearly lustre. Salt water is particularly harsh on selenite. Prefer dry methods such as fumigation or bran to purify it.

Why does my selenite look different from the photos?

Selenite varies from translucent to opaque white, sometimes with streaks or pearly highlights. Its appearance can be more or less fibrous, depending on the cut and quality of the crystal.

How can I improve the appearance of my selenite?

A dry cloth is all you need to remove dust and preserve its silky shine. Avoid contact with water and store away from shocks, as it is fragile and easily scratched.
