Sodalite Properties & Meaning
Sodalite was discovered in Greenland in 1806 but is mainly found here in Canada. It was discovered by the British Empire in a captured ship during the Napoleonic wars and was named by professor Glasgow Thomas Thomson who was hired by the British Empire to identify the crystal. Sodalite mainly comes from Canada & it is often known as the “Canadian blue gemstone”.
Sodalite gained popularity in 1891, when princess Margaret of England fell in love with the crystal when visiting Canada. She chose this crystal to decorate the interiors of her palace in England, known today as the “Marlborough House”.
